The PGA TOUR heads to Cabo.
Tiger Woods built this one.
The World Wide Technology Championship is November 5–8 at El Cardonal at Diamante, with a $6 million purse and Ben Griffin defending. The LPGA is in Japan, and Andrew Novak just ran away with the Mexico Open.
— About the course
El Cardonal was Tiger Woods' first completed course design. It opened in December 2014 at Diamante in Cabo San Lucas, and the tournament moved there in 2023 after 16 years at Mayakoba.
Tiger built it wide on purpose, with broad fairways and bunkering that borrows from the classic Southern California courses he grew up on. You get Pacific views from nearly every hole, and it tends to give up low scores.
— Worth knowing (trivia for the lounge)
- All three winners at El Cardonal have finished at least 24 under: Erik van Rooyen (27 under, 2023), Austin Eckroat (24 under, 2024) and Ben Griffin (29 under, 2025).
- The closing hole is a downhill par 5 that nearly the whole field can reach in two, so a late eagle can swing the tournament.
- This is the event's 20th year in Mexico.
- The field includes Griffin, Ryan Gerard, Jackson Koivun, Keith Mitchell, Billy Horschel and Tony Finau.
- Only two events remain in the FedExCup Fall after this one, and the next stop is in Texas: the Austin Championship.
— Last week's results
Andrew Novak won the VidantaWorld Mexico Open by five shots at 25 under, his first individual PGA TOUR title. Rounds of 61 and 62 gave him a six-shot lead going into Sunday, and when a bogey on 10 cut it to three, he birdied 12, 13 and 14 to pull away.
Steven Fisk and Kristoffer Ventura tied for second at 20 under. Ben Griffin, Novak's partner when they won the Zurich Classic last year, tied for fourth and was waiting on the 18th green when Novak finished.
On the LPGA side, Miyu Yamashita defended her title at the Maybank Championship in Kuala Lumpur, finishing at 22 under, two strokes clear of Yan Liu. It's her second LPGA win this season.
