— About the course

Sheshan Golf Club sits in Shanghai's western suburbs, and it's a new home for this event. The tournament moves here this year from Qizhong Garden Golf Club, where it was played in 2025.

The layout is a par 72 designed by the firm Nelson & Haworth. Eighty-one players from China and abroad are in the field, including major champions, rising stars and several Olympians.

— Worth knowing (trivia for the lounge)

  • The $3.2 million purse is the largest in the history of Asian women's professional golf.
  • Jeeno Thitikul won here last year at 24-under, beating the field in a five-hole playoff at Qizhong Garden.
  • She comes in hot: she won the Lotte Championship in Hawaii last week for her fourth LPGA win of 2026.
  • The event is co-sanctioned with the China LPGA Tour.
  • Shanghai is 13 hours ahead of Houston, so the leaders tee off while we're asleep.

— Last week's result: Brennan wins in Japan

Michael Brennan won the Baycurrent Classic at Yokohama Country Club on Sunday, finishing at 16-under 268, one stroke clear of Jacob Bridgeman and Keith Mitchell. It's his third PGA TOUR win and his second of 2026.

Brennan bogeyed the 10th, then birdied the 11th and 12th, and made a gutsy par from a greenside bunker on the par-3 16th. Defending champion Xander Schauffele was one back on the last hole, but his drive found the trees and he made double bogey.
