Winner takes everything at East Lake.

East Lake is the oldest golf course in Atlanta and the place where Bobby Jones learned the game — he's still the club's patron saint. Donald Ross rerouted the course in 1913, and ahead of the 2024 finale the club had architect Andrew Green rebuild the whole thing in twelve months, working from a 1949 aerial photo to bring back Ross's original intent. The result: wilder bunkers, faster and more varied greens, and a course that rewards thinking, not just bombing.

It plays as a par 70 at 7,440 yards this week. The stretch that decides the FedExCup starts at the par-3 15th, a heart-shaped, almost-island green sitting in the lake. The uphill 16th hides an eight-foot-deep grass hollow right of the green that Jones himself called "epic" — get in there Sunday with the Cup on the line and it's pure theater. Then it's a risk-reward par 5 at the last, because since 2016 East Lake has flipped its nines specifically so the season could end on an eagle chance instead of a par 3.

• Every FedExCup champion in history has been crowned at East Lake. The course has been the season finale's permanent home for more than two decades, and nobody has ever won the Cup anywhere else.
• Nobody has ever successfully defended it, either. Tommy Fleetwood gets the first crack under the current format after his 2025 win — which was also his first PGA TOUR victory, in his 164th start. The wait made it one of the most popular wins in years.
• Since 2025 there are no starting strokes and no math. All 30 players begin at even par, and the best 72-hole score takes the trophy, the Cup and the $10 million — the biggest first-place check on the entire schedule.
• Patrick Cantlay birdied his final three holes at Bellerive on Sunday just to get in, jumping 24 spots to make his sixth straight TOUR Championship. Gary Woodland is back at East Lake for the first time since 2019.
• East Lake may be golf's best community story. Proceeds from the club — more than $20 million so far — fund the East Lake Foundation, which helped transform the surrounding neighborhood from one of the country's most troubled into one of its most studied turnarounds. Building community through golf, on a very big scale.

Wyndham Clark won the BMW Championship at Bellerive at 17 under, two clear of Patrick Cantlay. He took a five-shot lead into Sunday, opened with a bogey, and watched Rory McIlroy pull even before answering with three straight birdie putts down the stretch — the only birdies he made all day. It's his third win of the season, and he arrives in Atlanta as the No. 3 seed behind Scottie Scheffler and Matt Fitzpatrick.

The LPGA is at TPC Boston in Norton, Massachusetts for the third edition of the FM Championship — a $4.4 million purse, the richest non-major on the schedule outside the season-ending finale, on an Arnold Palmer design reworked by Gil Hanse. Miranda Wang defends after the win of her life last year: 20 under, holding off then-world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul by a shot with clutch golf over the final three holes for her first LPGA title.
