— About Yokohama Country Club

Yokohama Country Club sits in Kanagawa, just outside Tokyo. The club was founded in 1958, opened in 1960, and has 36 holes. This week's layout is a composite: 16 holes from the West Course and two from the East.

The West Course was remodeled by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw in 2016, which gives the pros a modern architect's take on a classic Japanese parkland layout. It's a par 71 that plays right around 7,300 yards. The tournament moved here in 2025 after years at Narashino Country Club.

— Worth knowing (trivia for the lounge)

  • This event started life as the Zozo Championship in 2019, named for a Japanese clothing brand. In December 2024 the title sponsor became Baycurrent, a Japanese consulting firm.
  • Schauffele won the first Baycurrent Classic here in 2025, firing a final-round 64 to edge Max Greyserman by one. It was his 10th PGA TOUR win, and his mother grew up in Japan.
  • Hideki Matsuyama won this event's Narashino-era edition in 2021, eagling the final hole to win by five at home. He is the local favorite every time the TOUR lands in Japan.
  • It's a no-cut, 72-player field, so everyone plays all four rounds. That makes it one of the few weeks where a bad Friday doesn't send anyone home.
  • It's the third event of the eight-tournament FedExCup Fall, where the stakes are TOUR cards and exemptions for next season.

— Last week's result: Smotherman breaks through in Utah

Austin Smotherman won the Bank of Utah Championship at Black Desert Resort on Sunday, the first PGA TOUR title of his career. He did it in his 100th career start, finishing at 26-under 258 and winning by two over Doug Ghim.

Smotherman, 32, had to survive a double bogey at the 13th, but he birdied the last to close it out. The win is worth $1,080,000 from the $6 million purse and a two-year TOUR exemption. Black Desert Resort is loaded on our simulators, so you can play where he won.
